Xi'an, formerly known as Chang'an, has a history of over 3,100 years as a city and served as a capital for more than 1,100 years. It was the capital of 13 dynasties, including the Western Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang dynasties. As the eastern starting point of the ancient Silk Road, Chang'an laid the political framework and cultural foundation of Chinese civilization: the Western Zhou established rites and music here, the Qin Dynasty unified the empire, the Western Han opened the Silk Road, and the Tang Dynasty created an era of prosperity marked by openness and inclusiveness, making it an iconic capital of the Eastern world, comparable to Rome.
